Vacation is good for the soul!

Aug 03, 2023

I had the pleasure of spending a week on a family vacation to Palm Springs coupled with the chance to relive all of my childhood dreams going to Disneyland.

I was really excited to head out on vacation as I had been traveling a lot for work and felt like I really needed the time to reconnect with my family. However, I had a giant work project due, I had to create a long and complicated RFP (Request for Proposal) bid on a sales contract. I meditated, tuned in to my team in spirit, and asked for help in managing my stress. The VERY NEXT DAY in my inbox was an email letting me know the prospect extended the due date of the RFP by one week to allow them more time to complete their internal steps. Wow, talk about a miracle in plain sight.

This allowed me to put most of my work down for the week and truly enjoy some fun in the sun. I made it a point to only work on things that had to be done and to truly step away for the week.

I think we often find ourselves living in the stress of work and feeling like we always need to be connected or “on” in order to do a good job. I don’t think this is true. I think that if we are laser focused on the job at hand when we are working, we can give ourselves permission to let go when it is time to take a break.

I had the best time with my family. We rented a house with a pool and a lemon tree in the backyard. We picked a bunch of fresh lemons and made homemade lemonade. It was divine! We swam almost every day. We cooked a lot of meals together and made some magical memories.

One of those magical memories was to relive my childhood by going to Disneyland. It was a rainy day and I thought to myself “put on a poncho and go have fun”. I did not let the rain put me in a soggy mood. I decided it would be the biggest blessing because the park would be less busy! It turned out to be true. We rode most of the rides we wanted to experience before lunch. I had the best time truly seeing the love of Disneyland through the eyes of my daughter, and the new star wars ride was pretty bomb too!

I think there is magic in asking for help when we need it, doing what we can to shift perspectives, and to continue to have an attitude worth catching. I hope if anything this week I can encourage you to lean into raising your vibes and finding the good in something that would otherwise feel like a challenge or obstacle.

I wish you all the love and light this universe has to offer.

Have a fabulous weekend my friends!
